I've been burned by contractors before - one guy literally ghosted me mid-project. So I was nervous hiring someone new. But from the first phone call I could tell this was different. So funny story - turns out he went to high school with my brother! Small world. Anyway, the work was fantastic. He fixed our leaky faucet that three other people couldn't figure out. Turns out there was a crack in the pipe behind the wall that everyone missed. He found it in like 10 minutes. We've already recommended him to half the neighborhood.

Hired him to paint our living room and dining room. The painting itself? Chef's kiss. Seriously beautiful work, clean lines, no drips. However, he did track some paint on our carpet that I didn't notice until after he left. When I texted him about it, he came back same day and cleaned it up himself, which I appreciated. Docking one star for the oversight but adding it back for making it right.
